Messages: Text & SMS App is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and disclosed when you use this mobile application.


Information Collected for Core Functionality

To function as your Default SMS Handler, Messages: Text & SMS App requires access to certain device features and data. This core communication data is processed locally on your device and is not uploaded to any external servers.


SMS & MMS Messages: SMS permissions are required to display, send, and manage your text messages.


Contacts: Address book access (READ_CONTACTS) is used to display the names and photos of senders in your chat list.


Camera & Microphone: Camera and Audio permissions (RECORD_AUDIO) allow you to capture photos, record voice notes, and attach them directly to your outgoing MMS messages.


Device Storage: Storage access is required to save incoming media attachments and to browse local files to attach to outgoing messages.


Phone State: Device state access (READ_PHONE_STATE) supports Multi-SIM functionality, allowing the application to identify which SIM card to use for sending messages.


Notifications: Notification permissions are utilized to alert you of incoming messages and updates.


Third-Party Services & Data Collection

While your personal messages remain local, trusted third-party services are integrated to ensure application stability, deliver notifications, and display advertisements. These services may automatically collect certain device identifiers:


Google AdMob (Advertising): Google AdMob is integrated to display advertisements. AdMob collects your device's Advertising ID (AD_ID) and network state to serve relevant ads and measure performance.


Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics & Performance): Firebase tools are used to track application stability and performance. These collect anonymous diagnostic data, such as crash logs, app launch times, and general usage statistics, to help identify and resolve technical issues.


Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: This service is utilized to reliably deliver background data updates and push notifications to your device.


Data Storage and Security


Local Processing: All message history, media attachments, and contact details are stored securely on your device's local storage using the Room database.


Encryption in Transit: When an SMS or MMS is sent, it is transmitted securely via your mobile carrier's standard network protocols.


Third-Party Security: Diagnostic or advertising data collected by Firebase and AdMob is encrypted in transit and managed in accordance with Google's standard privacy policies.


Managing Your Data and Permissions


Permissions: Camera, Microphone, Notifications, and Storage access can be revoked at any time in your device settings. Revoking SMS permissions will prevent the application from functioning as your default messenger.


Advertising ID: You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalized advertisements, through your Android device's Google settings.


Data Deletion: Because messages are stored locally, you can delete your communication data at any time by deleting the messages directly within the app or by clearing the application's storage in your system settings.


Children’s Privacy

Messages: Text & SMS App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. Personal information from children is not knowingly collected.


Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as new features or SDKs are added. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
